Sirius — Thank You, Seriously

Finally after 5 years, I am able to hear Howard Stern in my car again.  I took him for granted in NY, and even in FL while he was one down there.  I think I was allowed about a year while in Texas before they pulled his pull and he was out of Denver by the time I moved there.  Well thanks to my CD collection, espn radio, and npr on occastion, the drive was tolerable.  Now that I have Stern, it’s enjoyable.   The man is a genius in manipulating people and in breaking new ground.  Now how long before the FCC decides it needs to regulate and censor paid subscription services?

George Takei was a great guest for that week.  Hearing him rag on Shatner was a blast.  I hope the HS crew can keep it up–they have for years so I have little doubt, but I do fear the other interests will buy their way into interfering with satellite radio.  The RIAA hates it, the people who think the government show control what we can hear and see hate it….however with some recent focus of how the money flows it may take those parties a bit longer to get their way…if at all because we can count on one person to fight for us– Howard Stern.

Broncos+Steelers=Steelers

So the equation means the Broncos are zero–nil–nothing. Well the proof was stamped QED by the actual game.   All week football fans in Denver had to hear how great the Broncos are–”we beat the Patriots–twice….where’s our respect…blah blah blah”. Not that Denver didn’t play a great defensive game against the Pats, but was no one concerned that we really saw no offense that game by the Broncos?  Sidebar—Denver actually played great D most of the year…the gamble with Browns DL paid off and the secondary really gave other teams fits.
While I’m not a Steelers fan (yeah my Giants were exposed for what they really are), I did take comfort in that they showed what EVERYBODY knows about Jake {The Fake|The Mistake}.  The Steelers knew what they had to do…get out front and force Denver to go to the air and make the “QB” throw to more than 10% of the field.  The week before the game, we all heard how he was a Pro Bowl QB–well A. Brooks could be a Pro Bowl QB as well if enough of the other QBs got injured or chose not to play.  Okay, Jake may be a bit better the Brooks so that was low…Jake does try to provide some leadership and he does try his best, but his best is when he’s not throwing the ball and the Steelers knew that and showed the rest of the viewing audience that as well.  Here’s to next year for both the Giants and the Broncos.

3 for 4

As mentioned previously, it appears my guide for winning fantast football is to NOT play for money. Out of the 4 finals I was in, I won 3. Now granted I was lucky this year in that I didn’t have a chance to draft ME .O., Daunte the Fumbling Inferno, or even Peyton “My team sucks” Manning. Tiki was a stud; as was S. Alexander for me this year. Sure, no $$$ for my fine managing efforts, but finally a title (or 3).

XBOX 2TT

Yeah, I got one, but it’s in my biz so I HAVE to early adopt. Overall, better graphics, sounds, and networking (well in some cases). The wireless controllers are very nice and overall Xbox live is decently implemented.

Of course being M$ they crippled the 360 by not allowing it to see UNC shares or even mapped drives. Nope, you have to install M$ media extender on you Windows box and then serve your files from there. Now I will say that it does work nicely with Window MCE2005. While it defeats the purpose of a HDTV, you can stream live tv from a vid capture card from MCE through the 360 to your TV….nothing new there, you could do that for the past year or so with MythTV and a modified xbox (xbox0?), but it can also stream HD wmv files. That’s were the goods are. All those miniDV avis, HD trailers, and most importantly cause you know you have it, HD pr0n. Oh, and I think it plays games too.

So the ONE year I play in all the various leagues for NO money for winning and you guessed it. I’m winning all my divisions except one. Was it the almightly dollar that was preventing me from winning in the past or just crappy players (who were making many almighty dollars)

From Thomas Hawk’s blog

“I will make sure you will never be able to place an order on the internet again.” “I’m an attorney, I will sue you.” “I will call the CEO of your company and play him the tape of this phone call.” “I’m going to call your local police and have two officers come over and arrest you.” “You’d better get this through your thick skull.” “You have no idea who you are dealing with.”

Sounds like a place I’d want to deal with. With so many other retailer out there, you have to wonder who has the thick skull here.

Giants lackluster in win

November 7, 2005 at 12:12 am | In Sports | Leave a Comment

After 36-0 agains the skins, I guess I was hopnig for more than the showing they put up agains the niners.  Eli looked less than sharp although he did have his moments.  And what’s with the penalities–22+ last I was counting.  Both teams just looked flat, but a win is a win.
